Specimen Requirements

Specimen Type: Whole blood

Container/Tube:

Preferred: Lavender top (EDTA)

Acceptable: Sodium citrate (Blue top). Do Not Centrifuge..

Specimen Volume: 4 mL

Collection Instructions:

1. Invert several times to mix blood.

2. Send specimen in original tube.

NOTE:  A separate tube is required for this test per CAP regulations.  Due to this providers will not be able to add onto blood in lab that has been run through another instrument.
