Titration
Includes LAB0202473 Antibody Identification, Erythrocytes.
Useful for monitoring antibody levels during pregnancy to help assess the risk of hemolytic disease of the newborn.

Can include antibody screen and ID at an additional charge.

Specimen Requirements

Specimen must arrive in laboratory within 4 hours of draw at ambient temperature or refrigerated on wet ice.

 

Specimen Type: Whole blood

Container/Tube: Lavender top (EDTA)

Specimen Volume: 5 mL

Collection Instructions:

1. Invert several times to mix blood.

2. Send specimen in original tube.

3. Specimen cannot be frozen.

Additional Informations:

1. For first time orders, include history of transfusions, pregnancies, and identification of antibody.
2. For repeat orders, include note that specimen is a repeat and identification of antibody.

Specimen Transport Temperature

Ambient/Refrigerated on wet ice

Reference Values

Result will be reported as the reciprocal of the highest dilution at which macroscopic agglutination is observed.

 

Critical Value: Significant changes in titer from 1 specimen to the next or initial titer >1:16  will be reported by the pathologist.
