Methodology

Enzyme Immunoassay (EIA)

Testing panel includes Antinuclear Antibodies and Cyclic Citrullinated Peptide antibodies, IgG.


If ANA is ≥3.0, Double-Stranded DNA (dsDNA) antibodies, Centromere antibodies, and Extractable Nuclear antibodies will be performed automatically at an additional cost.

Specimen Requirements

Specimen Type: Serum

Container/Tube: Gold top (SST) & Red top (Serum & No Additive)

Specimen Volume: 2 mL

Specimen Minimum Volume: 1 mL

Collection Instructions: Label specimen appropriately (serum).

If collecting using a red top with no gel separator, the serum must be removed within 1 hour of collection.

Specimen Transport Temperature

Refrigerated if testing will be completed within 48 hours.

Frozen and removed from gel if testing will not be completed within 48 hours.

Reference Values

ANA  Antibodies:

<1 unit (negative)

 

Cyclic Citrullinated Peptide antibodies:

Negative: <7.0 U/mL

Equivocal: 7.0-10.0 U/mL

Positive: >10.0 U/mL
