Submit only 1 of the following specimens:

 

Preferred

Specimen Type: Preserved stool

Container/Tube: Stool container supplied with 10% formalin or Cary Blair

Specimen Volume: Entire collection

Collection Instructions: Label specimen appropriately (preserved stool).

 

Alternate

Specimen Type: Fresh, random stool, stool collected in Cary-Blair

Container/Tube: Sterile container

Specimen Volume: Entire collection

Collection Instructions: Label specimen appropriately (fresh stool).

Specimen Transport Temperature

Refrigerated <2 weeks/Frozen -200 C <2 months
