Specimen Requirements
Specimen must arrive in laboratory within 4 hours of draw at ambient temperature or refrigerated on wet ice.
Specimen Type: Whole blood
Container/Tube: Lavender top (EDTA)
Specimen Volume: 5-10 mL
Collection Instructions:
1. Invert several times to mix blood.
2. Send specimen in original tube.
3. Specimen cannot be frozen.
Additional Informations: Include history of transfusions, pregnancies, drug therapy, and any known antibodies.

Ambient/Refrigerated on wet ice
Reference Values
Report will include identification of antibody and interpretative comments regarding significance and likelihood of finding compatible blood for transfusion.
